It takes a lot of thought, will power, and willingness to change to truly go green. Negative impacts of not going green affect our home life including money spent on utilities, our wildlife animals, moving forward species extinction, our society and us as consumers, buying local and supporting energy efficient, recycled, and organic products, and even our bodies and digestive tracts, keeping ourselves healthy. To go green is to make changes in our daily routine, and reduce our waste. When these changes are accepted and adopted into society, society itself starts to change. Big business modifies to our consumer wants, are homes become less wasteful and we start saving money..
Our Moral Footprint
The Earth has been under stress ever since humans came into existence. Back in the days, pressure was not as extreme as now especially since we are moving into the development stage. Development includes changing the method, quantity and regions for fishing, practicing deforestation for urban development, agriculture, coastal development or others types of activity. Humans try to change the environment in order to fit their routine, wants and lifestyle. No matter how diminutive the development is, it alters the environment.
Reducing, reusing, and recycling are common terms in our society today. Your carbon footprint is an estimate of the amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions that result from your consumption levels in a given time frame. It is the mark you leave on our planet and our environment long after you are gone. Many people do not realize the long-lasting effects greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2 or carbon dioxide, can have on our planet and regrettably, I was one of them. Using three separate calculators, I was able to determine that my personal carbon footprint is undoubtedly unacceptable; additionally, I learned the various behaviors that increase my carbon footprint and the simple ways we all can reduce our own personal carbon footprints.
